Restricted Account

Why does this happen?

  • If someone clicks "Decline Invitation," they are then presented with a follow-up question: "Do you know this person?"
  • If 5-10ish people click "I Don't Know This Person" then it will result in the restriction where you need an email address to connect with them.
  • This might be a permanent restriction. However, there is a chance they will lift the restriction after some weeks or months.

How To Prevent It

  • Make sure to withdraw pending connections. You don't want more than 1,000 pending invites in your account.
  • Use precise targeting
  • Be specific and personal in the Invite so it's highly relevant to the prospect. You don't want it to sound salesy, or like you have a hidden agenda. Make it personalized, yet simple and concise. Try mentioning mutual connections if possible.
  • Don't invite more than 140 prospects per day.

How To Solve It

  1. First, let the client know the issue has occurred, what it means, and what we are going to do to solve it. Use this email template: Restricted Account Notice To Client
  2. Once we confirm that LinkedIn has not emailed the client asking for a photo ID:
  3. Sign into the LinkedIn Account, then go to: https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/solve
  4. Click on "Get Help From Us"
  5. Type in: "I Don't Know You" List, click Next.
  6. Subject Line: Put On "I Don't Know You" List
  7. Body:

"Hey, I've been using Sales Navigator for Business Development for my "X" Business for years now and my whole team is on the Paid Subscription service and I recommend it to all of my colleagues as well.

Apparently I've been put on the "I Don't Know You" list? I do make sure I always add a Personal Note with my Invites, only add people I personally know or in my 2nd Degree Network, or who people may know me from Networking events, and I withdraw ALL pending invites requests.

There may have been some sort of misunderstanding?

I would love to continue to use the Paid Sales Navigator account for my growing Business and make connections with potential clients/colleagues.

Could you please get my account unrestricted? Thank you. "

Solution if Permanently Restricted

  1. There won't be any way to continue running automations from that particular profile.
  2. You can try creating an email campaign by leveraging the existing network. To do this, download a CSV file of all connections, and upload to Woodpecker.
  3. You can use another Li profile. I would reach out a friend, business partner, a VA, or someone who will let you leverage their profile. Then start the automation process again.
    1. When doing appointment setting on their account, you can say something like, "Sounds good ____, I'm going to send your info over to my partner and Co-founder and they will give you a call."
  4. Creating a fake profile is not recommended (as they may ask for ID). You should definitely not create 2nd profile exactly the same as your current one. Instead, you CAN create a 2nd profile, but you would need to name it slightly different than your current Li name. Plus, the entire content cannot be the same, and it cannot be linked to the same company, or else LinkedIn will likely flag it. But you can do it, just take the precautions.

Potential Solution To Run Campaign Anyway

  • Use a tool to scrape emails (torchleads.com) from Sales Navigator without needing to connect.
  • Then upload this list back into LinkedIn, which automatically sends them a connection request, but without an Invite message.
